I started Leading for Children in 2016 because of my conviction that children follow their leaders and that we, the adults in their lives, must collaboratively ensure their success now and in the future. The past seven years have been a dynamic and exciting period of growth and change at LFC.

Since LFC’s founding, we developed and implemented our groundbreaking Humanity First Model across the country. LFC’s Model fosters leadership development among all adults in the child’s ecosystem, strengthens relationships for collective problem-solving, and builds agency and equity in communities. We have proven that LFC’s Mutual Learning Method leads to inclusivity, equity, and collaboration within early care and education. Our accomplishments, from the publication of two books in English and Spanish to engaging with over 3,750 adults and positively impacting the lives of more than 56,000 children, are a testament to the dedication and passion of everyone involved.

In keeping with my firm belief that part of LFC’s mission is to make space for the innovative ideas and perspectives of the next generation of leaders, I will step aside as Executive Director as of April 15. As part of this transition, I will continue with LFC in a part-time capacity as LFC’s Strategic Advisor. Scaling LFC’s model to extend our reach and impact is central to our 2024 – 26 strategic plan and I’m thrilled to be able to focus fully on this vital work.

I am delighted to share that my esteemed colleague and friend, Nichole Parks, currently serving as LFC’s Deputy Executive Director, will step into the role of Executive Director. The foundation Nichole and I have built together is strong.  Nichole’s unwavering dedication to young children and LFC’s mission, coupled with her extensive experience and outstanding leadership qualities, position her as the perfect candidate to guide LFC towards further growth and success. I have full confidence that with Nichole’s leadership, the organization will build on our achievements and create a more optimistic future for thousands more young children.

I extend my deepest gratitude to each one of you for your steadfast support, dedication, and commitment to the vision of Leading for Children. Serving alongside such a passionate and capable team of champions has been an honor and privilege. I look forward to LFC’s continued growth and impact in the years ahead.
